INTO THE WILD
We know that fascinating wild creatures such as whales,
dolphins, and dugongs live in our seas. What does it
mean to be wild and why do we need to conserve the wild?
Cafe Scientifique explores the science of the wild with
wildlife veterinarian, Dr. AA Yaptinchay.
Join us in discovering the wild side of the Philippines,
and find out theories behind captive wild animals and
how “ecotourism” can help keep our wild side. Don’t miss
out on this wild ride bursting with fascinating facts,
photos, and fun, as Café Scientifique takes you
face-to-face with nature.

The
Science of the Heavens: What's really up there?
Wherever we go, whatever
we do, there's a lot hanging over our heads. And we
certainly can't run or hide from it. Understanding the
heavens opens us up to new worlds of wonder. What does
it take to make a cloud? Are rainbows visions, or only
illusions? What shape is the rainbow? Do stars really
twinkle? What is the real color of the sky and the sea?
Physics Instructor Ivan
Culaba will lead us on a voyage of discovery
through what exactly goes on up there, and how we can
recreate it down here, with simple and fun experiments
in atmospheric physics.
Get ready for an unforgettable afternoon of interactive
demonstrations for the whole family!
This lively conversational event will be facilitated by
Mitzi Borromeo.
This event is FREE and OPEN to all. Refreshments will be
served courtesy of Hobbes and Landes Café

Two hundred years after
Charles Darwin’s birth, his idea of natural selection
–that all life belongs to one family – has been widely
accepted by the scientific community. So what’s the big
deal?
Join us to ask Steve Jones:
Why is Darwin’s idea so powerful?
Does life really belong only to the
strong?
What does Darwin’s idea mean for us
today?
